Julian Assange, founder of WikiLeaks, has entered into an agreement with the US judiciary, whereby he admitted guilt to charges related to leaking military secrets in exchange for his release. Under this agreement, Assange, who spent the last five years under strict surveillance in a UK prison, confessed to "conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information." WikiLeaks announced that the 52-year-old Australian Assange left Belmarsh prison on Monday morning and was later cleared by the British judiciary at Stansted Airport, London, boarding a flight out of the United Kingdom. Assange faced charges of espionage for publishing a collection of US secret documents online nearly 15 years ago. WikiLeaks had previously released hundreds of thousands of secret US military documents concerning the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, marking one of the largest security breaches in US military history.
