And now for the eternal question. My computer bag is starting to show a lot of wear and tear. Do I buy another exact bag that I know perfectly meets all my needs or go crazy and try something new?

Recently went through this with a backpack I had for 12 years. In the end I couldn’t find an exact replacement so reluctantly went with a different model. Now 1 month in and am very happy, I actually think it’s better than my old one. I say go crazy!
Both and then write it off as a business expense
Depends on how happy you are with the bag. If it's just sufficient or less, try something new. If you're genuinely happy with it, maybe try a direct replacement.
Depends on your needs, but I really liked a Milwaukee backpack for onsite tech work. Plenty of little pockets everywhere and enough attachment points for hand tools, cables, adapters, 3x laptops, et cetera. Hardshell bottom, well-constructed, all of that. They do have softshell versions which may be more your speed.
