There was no civil war. One left and the other said no you can't do that. A civil war is fighting for control of the country, not leaving.

It's a hot take, but imo the entire premise of American government ended that day. You can't have consent of the governed when literally half the country is there against it's will.

Totally. I see that. History is written by the Victors though. Reconstruction was 6 months of the north burning the south to the ground after the war was ended, seems pretty fucked.
