I don't shoot bullseye (this sport) but i shoot pistol pretty frequently. This is I think the way now (both eyes open). You focus on the target and the sights align through your dominant eye.

Closing and eye is a bit stressful and tiresome. When there is a scope, different story of course.

In any case, especially with modern red dots, I'd recommend keeping both eyes open.

Agreed I was told to shoot with both eyes open.

I shot with the wrong eye for a long time

I was taught the one eye thing… 😢 my eyesight has changed now I feel like I have to start over

Try shooting with a red dot. It's night and day difference. You'll love it once you get the hang of it. I've started my kids on a small .22 rifle with a dot just to get them used to both eyes open.

I need a dad (my adopted one doesn’t shoot, too liberal 🤣)

There's dads like you and then my husband brought home a huge crossbow.

With red dot.
