So is the idea that, without this feature active, if you were only using nostr.wine by itself without the added filter, you would not be seeing a lot of content that you would expect to see on more public relays?

That’s exactly it. I wanted to be able to delete public relays from my list to improve both content discovery (spam free global) and performance (some of the public relays are very slow or have poor uptime). The problem was that without the big public relays I lost both content and reach.

#[3] and I came up with the idea of filter.nostr.wine. Aggregate from and broadcast to the most popular public relays while still keeping global requests spam free (follows+their follows network).

We plan on adding a lot of additional customizability and features in the coming months.

I think one thing I’m confused about is that we’re only talking about Global feed here, right? So the Home Screen is a separate thing that is only determined by who I’m following?

That’s right. Those requests are always limited to your follows and filter operates the same as any other relay in that aspect.
