I am a hardware and network guy and don’t write code. Does this type of setup make sense to you? Obviously there would be trust involved if I have physical access to the server. Also, the only backup would be rack mount battery, so while not common, downtime would be possible.
Yeah, the envisioned service doesn’t require a strong trust model since it doesn’t make use of any private data.
How much CPU and Memory? I have some hardware and large SSD I could setup. I could create redundant backups, etc. I think it would be cool to have Bitcoin nodes and Nostr relays running like this.
I suppose it would depend on how many people would be calling the nodes API, but 2-4 cores and 8gb RM is probably enough for a plebnet node with multiple users with small projects
I will give this some thought and see what I can do for prototype / proof of concept for you to play with. What base operating system for the machine?
