I wonder how hardcore my network traffic is. Discord spams an absolute crapton of websockets connections, Primal connects to only it's cache server so that shouldn't cause any problems, and Element/Matrix is just...periodic AJAX. Actually something I really appreciate about Matrix is the fact that it is either HTTP long-poll or SSE - or just AJAX. Kinda simple, credit where it's due. I don't see this as a viable thing for Nostr, but perhaps an AJAX gateway in the future wouldn't be too bad. Imagine a proxy-server/-multiplexer that you host yourself to connect to your favorite relays, cache some data and just fetch the newest batch periodicaly. Quite bandwidth saving imo. ^^ But, thats definitively an ultra-low priority thing.
