If you have damp issues affecting the internal walls of your House...
Rain or Rising damp can saturate brick, block or framed/stuccoed walls. Walls dry from the inside as well as the outside, so any coating restricting wΓ‘ter vapour from dissipating is adding to the damp problem.
It's hard to make structural changes if the issue is down to impermeable House wrap or your walls have been rendered with cement. But wherever possible, mininise problems by using lime based paints and renders. Or clay based paint. Or microporous wall #paints like clasidur..
The old ways were so well conceived.. Most regular modern Paint is acting like a sheet of plastic in terms of allowing wΓ‘ter vapour to pass through.
