As Information Technology advanced in the 1980's, companies started outsourcing and focusing more on their core competencies. The world became smaller, shipping faster and bigger and in the 1990's companies started off-shoring. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic revealed to companies that the advantages of off shoring no longer held true and started reshoring or nearshoring.
