Adaptation from John Keane's play. I think he is the most important playwrighter of Ireland. Richard Harris was absolutely amazing in this movie as Bull McCabe. The film is deep into rural Irish culture, showcasing traditional ways of life, land ownership issues, and the complex relationships within small communities. It provides a vivid portrayal of Irish society. And there is the director Jim Sheridan. His previous movie "my lef foot" was perfect to me. Brilliant movie.
