My son bought mousepad yesterday and I noticed that it is WiFi compatible. WTF

Can anyone tell me what this thing is?

I’m going to take it apart with him.

WTF

It’s almost as ridiculous as central banks claiming that QE is temporary. 😅

Trojan horses come in all shapes and forms. This one was sold to its victim.

Exactly. I’m more paranoid than the average middle aged man.

I found the box and it looks like it’s a gaming mouse pad.

So unnecessary, I’m converting my family to Luddite.

It's a fun term to use to refer to yourself, but some technology is not helpful but harmful.

Agreed. I’m happy to pay a premium for “dumb” objects. Hopefully my kids will understand. Never considered them as a vulnerability, but they’re getting old enough to make purchases on their own now.

Just a guess: Maybe a functionality to sync the LED color of the mousepad with other parts of the gaming setup?

Your right, I found the box and it’s a gaming mouse pad. I’m so old! 😅

But even being a "harmless" functionality, could be used to exploit your WAN.

I share the same paranoid, no way to connect something like that into my network.
