"it changes nothing
it means nothing"
Is a good summary of what nihilism means to me. If nothing means anything, why would anyone care whether innocent people are being murdered in wars? Why care about Assange being in jail? Why care about being an asshole to other people? Like, I'm not even gonna go further. It's asinine.
I didn't describe you as nihilist, I described that particular point of view as nihilist.
Also the "every life is sacred" point of view is beautiful, but reality is a little different. Sacred, yes, for sure. But there's levels to it. Without going into a larger view of plant life vs animal life vs human life, men are, whether we like it not, much more expendable in the eyes of Nature. Why? Survive and procreate. 1 man can impregnate, IDK, thousands of women in 9 months. One woman can only get pregnant once during that timeframe. As for children, well, it should be obvious that since they have a full life, yet unlived, they represent a much larger unfulfilled creative potential in general.
Also, breaking someone's heart is completely antithetical to the "protect & provide" fundamental responsibilities of a man.
You know, there's a reason why women and children are being rescued first in a crisis situation. There's a reason why it's the men who go to war (and it's not just physical prowess).
I remember watching Avatar 2 a couple of years ago and being completely appalled at how they displayed a pregnant woman going to battle, and no one in the movie objected it. As I expressed this feeling to a girl friend of mine after the movie, she also didn't really understand my disgust at that type of complete disregard for life. I now see that this is, unfortunately, quite common.
No one asked me? I'm fully aware of the fact.
If you're going to criticize someone's ideas/work publicly, you'd better be prepared to have your ideas scrutinized as well. No one asked you, either ๐
I hope you can make peace with whatever is tormenting you.
Again, โฎ๏ธ & ๐งก !
