Cotton is preferred since it's cheaper and more expendable than wool, but, I have a few select wool pieces that I have worn for a really long time in cold weather while welding.

But yes, burning and sticking synthetics are worse than regular burns from spatter or hot metal.

In the winter he wore cotton thermals. Actually he still does. LOL

I've never welded, or worked an outside job in the winter. I have however learned to hate acrylic anything.

Acrylic is weird! 😁
