This report summarizes five years of Bitcoin for Fairness, our on-the-ground work, education programs, and community-led impact across Africa.

## Make Number of Freedom Go Up!

Bitcoin For Fairness's purpose is to **promote Bitcoin and decentralized technology education to advance financial freedom, privacy, and human rights** - especially in authoritarian and underserved regions.

BFF **empowers communities through ground-level education**, providing free courses, videos, research, and events. We offer scholarships to educators, community builders, and disadvantaged groups in the global south.

**All BFF projects are open-source**, because true fairness requires open access to knowledge.

## Five Years of Bitcoin Capacity Building

Bitcoin for Fairness has worked **directly with communities across Southern Africa - particularly in Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Zambia** - where currency devaluation and authoritarian restrictions create urgent needs for financial alternatives.

Through education programs, mentorship, and seed funding, we've fostered a generation of African Bitcoin educators and community builders who develop solutions tailored to local needs. This grassroots approach ensures Bitcoin knowledge grows organically within communities, **creating lasting impact for people facing real economic challenges**.

## Impact Map

Since our founder Anita's first visit to Zimbabwe in 2020 we travelled to and **worked in 8 countries**, to foster grassroots adoption, work with human rights activists and support community building.

We have exposed **local leads to international conferences and built international collaboration**

## Crack the Orange

Since 2023 – we run Crack the Orange – an **online Train the Trainer program**. Our **students are from 33 countries globally**.

We grant **scholarships for Bitcoin educators, community builders and developers** in the Global South.

**Graduates have become founders of initiatives themselves** and are sharing knowledge and opportunities in our borderless scholars group.

Crack the Orange offers an extensive online course, an open source knowledge library – containing hours of video material, monthly live calls and community calls to connect educators and builders from all over the world.

Since 2020, our founder has worked on the ground across Africa while **championing Bitcoin as a fair, accessible financial system that doesn't discriminate or oppress**—through conference keynotes, media appearances, and publications.

She **challenges Western narratives by amplifying African voices in the global conversation**. As a pioneer in bringing African Bitcoiners to international attention, she secures funding and support for on-the-ground work while advocating for authentic, locally-driven solutions.

## Plans for 2026

The mission of Bitcoin for Fairness is to build Bitcoin capacity where it's needed most - fostering a fair, accessible financial system that doesn't discriminate or oppress.

In 2026 we continue our work with a focus on **capacity and decentralized infrastructure building**, supporting the **use of Bitcoin as money** and strengthening **censorship resistance and privacy in the Global South**.

From January to May founder Anita and program director Francis Miller will advance Bitcoin education on the ground across **Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zambia**.

Bitcoin For Fairness will provide **Crack the Orange scholarships** to emerging educators, and support local initiatives through micro-grants and mentorship throughout the year 2026.
