You know about their auto block list that you can't turn off, see whos on it or unblock anyone?

No... What's all that?

So if you got to "security filters" and in the spammers tab and hidden words tab, you will see nothing in those lists (unless you've blocked some words). But there are things in those lists you can't see. Every now and then you might get a notification from someone that disappears, or a quote reply from one of your follows quoting someone and it says "this message is hidden, click to show" or something like that. If you go to that profile, you'll see where it usually says follow it says unblock. If you unblock, it automatically reblocks it immediately.

Amethyst is blocking people and words for you, without your knowledge or permission, and sharing this block list with other amethyst users and auto updating it. People are shafown banned from amethyst.

Okay, that makes sense. I've seen the unblock/auto-reblock thing happen. I figured it was because I blocked some words - various craptos. The hidden block words might make sense if someone is displaying porn and people are blocking them for that. Definitely could be exploited nefariously, but also I'm very glad to have less of that crap in my feed.

Me too. But the problem is, a client is shadow banning people without user consent. There's no way for a user to get around this. The UI just tries to hide that it's even happening. What good is a decentralized, censorship resistant network with the most popular client censoring people? It's one thing if you can go in there and see the list and edit it. I like a system to remove spam, I don't like a system that takes power away from the user.

Which client do you prefer?

Honestly, mobile, amethyst lol. It's unfortunate. Nothing else let's you use amber for key management.

I've been looking for a desktop application like amber with no luck. Just chrome extensions unfortunately.

I avoid browser extensions. Don't trust em.
