I finished Pat Buchanan’s Churchill, Hitler and the Unnecessary War last night and I think one of my main takeaways is that Churchill was kind of a high time preference dude. He let Stalin creep deep into Europe and even mapped out the future Iron Curtain with him, all to defeat Hitler at any cost. He couldn’t see past the present tense, while Stalin was looking past him to what Europe would look like after WWII.
