- Durov refused to store info about Russians in Russia back in 17 and had a fall out within Russia gov, but did not cave. Russia gov also did not like the launch auf the TON coin that might become a competitor to the Rubel. Gov did not escalate.

- Durov moved to Dubai

- in 2020 he made a deal with Russia gov (about the storing of data, but not sure what the outcome was)

- TON coin has become number 9 coin and Telegram has huge plans to establish payment system

- very popular in Russia and about 1b users worldwide

- played/plays a crucial role in providing truth news about Ukraine war (that Ukraine is losing - the West still pretends to win)

The arrest:

- rumors say Durov came from Kazakstan and had an audience with Putin - possibly to discuss his return to Russia

- the arrest was publized only minutes before the landing in France

- rumors say the US is behind the arrest

- Russian embassy is trying to help Durov

Reason 1 for arrest:

- Telegram does not censor enough (it does censor already some stuff, but not everything the West wants to be censored)

Reason 2 or arrest:

- The integrated payment sysytem with TON coin is becoming to big and the West wants it removed
