Why the fuck was the army sent into Iraq without the appropriate types and amounts of body armor (among other important supplies, such as weapons)? Why weren't their humvees shielded? Why were they used as body guards for politicians and VIPs visiting Iraq during war? Why were they being actively recruited by USA mercenary groups during war (my husband said he could supposedly make 200k a year if he accepted)? Why was my husband sent back for a second tour after a documented spine fracture? Why were ground forces used at all?

My husband (the love of my life, thus far) received the silver star, among other awards for dying in combat, etcetera. I could have stopped him from joining the army yet I figured he would learn his lesson so that I wouldn't have to be the 'bad guy' he resented for not following his dream (based on friends/family/ whatever mind control he experienced in his young life, including racism, gun, and aikido training). It was a mistake I agonized about for many many years.
