Should I learn about Ordinals? If yes, why? If no, why?
I will zap the best argument for 2100 Sats.

no if not interested in digital artefacts. Ordinals is just a way to name sats but change nothing at the protocol level
**IF** it ends up jacking up base-chain fees (unlikely), stokes bs "porn images embedded in bitcoin" narrative FUD (likely), or discourages future inexpensive personal node adoption because of the hardware bloat to store the chain (debatable) -- we'll better understand WHY and correct/counter/discuss with better information?

Yes. It’s interesting from the implementation stand point and the fact that it’s possible to have better NFTs on Bitcoin then on any shitcoin.
- the data is encoded on the blockchain itself (not just url to a server)
- it’s transferable with regular bitcoin transaction
- it’s relatively easy to implement decentralized exchange (with partially signed transaction)
I have no interest in NFTs itself, but like to see bitcoin captures that part of the market.
https://docs.ordinals.com read official docs, it takes little time and it’s everything there is to know about this topic.
Used ordinals as synonym to inscriptions here. Ordinals is not that interesting, it’s just numeration scheme.
The reason to learn about ordinals is simple civic responsibility - if the chain is being used for anything new, it is better to stay abreast of happenings.
It is also useful to dispel FUD, e.g the notion that ordinals are an attack on fungibility (they’re not) and and also hype, e.g the notion that ordinals will save bitcoin’s “security budget” (there is no such thing)
There is an argument to be made that the opportunity cost of learning about ordinals is too high relative to any gains, but this can’t be known ex ante.
If there were Happenings (50s/60s art movement), I propose Zappenings.
Yes because it will help you analyze signal versus noise.
Learning how it interacts with the blockchain, what motivates the users, and understanding why it is a non-issue due to real economic factors will provide overlying clarity to apply analysis to determine what out there is garbage and not to spend time on generally.
If you already have that top-down heuristic to draw from then no, don’t waste any time on it lol. A lot of people who get it now learned from understanding econ via BTC
The final “it” above being the signal/noise top down analysis
