When I give new woodworkers advice on their first equipment purchases. It has to be a good tablesaw. It is the center of any functional wood shop. It is the workhorse that can do many different things. It can rip, crosscut, join an edge, dado and rabbet cut, you can even make your own custom moulding (without a moulding knife set - more on that later!).

You don’t need the most expensive one, a good quality contractor’s saw can be sufficient.
