the decline is a cyclical event that happens approximately every 6000 years and it is caused by a rotating magnetic oscillation that does a 90 degree turn every 6000 years, and it stimulates the stars and planets in its path to suffer from massive disturbances in their fields over the 150-200 years or so in which the transition occurs
the name that the researchers who have been uncovering this phenomenon call it the "galactic magnetic current sheet" because it forms a rippling spiral that fans out from the massive stars in the galactic center and induces a rotational change in all the magnetically permeable matter along the galactic disc
every star produces a small one, and they have their own cycles, like our sun has an ~11 year cycle during which it also has a full magnetic oscillation that impacts the stability of its energy output, over a 22 year cycle there is a peak and a trough
we are in the middle of the last stages before the sun has a peak cycle right now and the effects of this disturbance tend to last another 2 years or more, so there will almost certainly be more events like the spectacular, unprecedented auroras of may and again earlier this month, the one in may though, broke all records being visible as far north as New Caledonia and as far south as Puerto Rico, this was from a solar eruption that was less than 1/10th of what caused the Carrington event, and there has been a number of similar records broken every so often, i think there was one in the 30s and another one in the 50s i think, and maybe another one in the 70s and iirc, another in the 90s, and each time, the event was maybe higher or lower but relative to the scale of the solar burp it has continued to increase in its effect on our ionosphere and auroras auroras and radio communications
this year has seen about 5 major incidents that caused terrestrial and satellite communications to be temporarily down, and it is likely that before the next 2 years pass we see a massive scale power grid failure because of it (and at the same time maybe there will be more sabotage, we'll see i guess)
and yes, when this happens also it affects everything, migratory animals go to the wrong places, whales get beached more, there is more storms and more cyclones and hurricanes and tornadoes, more floods, more volcanic eruptions and more earthquakes
it's my firm opinion that taking the warning early and positioning yourself to be in areas where there is a lower density of lightning strikes, earthquakes, and rainfall, as far from the ocean as possible and as high altitude as possible, are the safest places to be
we are experiencing climate change, alright, but it's nothing to do with us, and it even goes beyond just what the sun is doing, and every planet in the solar system is also experiencing changes, higher speed storms on neptune and saturn and venus, massive atmosphere loss of pluto, changes in the storm patterns of jupiter with a new massive polar stream just appeared where there is a high speed wind doing an orbit around the mid northern latitudes
