How do they check the phones though, thats looks like a major breach of privacy, can you deny
Immigration zones at airports are something of a no-man’s land, and border officers have broad authority to search devices. You don’t have to provide them with the password to unlock it, but they can seize the device temporarily (weeks) if you don’t, and you can expect delays. If you’re a US citizen they cannot deny you entry.
the US government thought that if they are going to the hassle of checking peoples social media for antisemitism on behalf of the Israel lobby then they may as well check for antigovernment memes too while they are already within. Kinda hides that they are really there for antisemitism when headlines like this come out.
