People talk a lot about how AI tools make them write code faster.

I've been playing with these tools for the first time over the past ~2 weeks. I don't think they make me faster necessarily, but I solve problems far more thoroughly and ambitiously. I tend to get impatient and settle for "good enough". But when slave-driving an AI I don't mind over-killing problems like I normally would. Code is much more robust as a result ...

Vibe coding is a trap. I've tried it a thousand times. It's a skill issue.

AI can write a hundred new unit tests and not be bothered though. Constraint Oriented Programming

Yeah it's good at that! I use AI all the time, but at some point if you use it without checking your code things go out of control and then you're rekt if you don't know what you were doing. Happens all the time.

I've found it to be very useful for learning and generating small snippets

AI has become my "copilot" for pretty much everything and it's a huge productivity booster.

I rarely use a search engine now, with perplexity.ai you get a summary and more relevant links than from Google

It's usually more helpful than the docs for a lot of software too

Very good for learning. This is probably one of the reasons it makes me more thorough. I just keep asking questions until I get a good handle on the problem space.
