I keep thinking about getting a job but want something fun.
What excites you most? What's your passion?
Designing UX/UI (have only a little experience in it previously, but love giving feedback on it), bug-testing websites/clients. Quality assurance.
I love to optimise and make increase the intuitiveness and efficience. I also have a bit of an OCD about clean cut design (it’s why I love Damus so much)

I will keep my ears open as I’m sure will the rest of the community here.
Since you said you have a little experience with it, I would suggest a couple things:
1. spend an hour a day watching videos on advanced function of tools like figma as well as concept videos to solidify your understanding of design theory.
2. Spend *at least* an hour a day using the tool of your choice, such as figma and do a mix of creative design as well as become a super user on the tool set.
3. Set up a portfolio website where you post your designs and write about your design theory and progress.
4. Continue to do what you already doing like how you spent time discussing design with Pablo the other day in figma. Continue to do that same thing with other people. Basically offer people your help and then help them :)
5. With their permission include things like that in your portfolio and write about it.
6. Spend additional hours on items 1 and 2 but don’t spend more time on 1 than 2. Time you spend actually doing really adds up to grow your skills.
7. Apply for jobs and keep a positive attitude. Don’t self deprecate when discussing your skills as you talk to people who might offer you a job or help connect you with the job.

I want to. However I’m healing very slowly from my most recent surgery. Add to that the medical bills have started rolling in and I have no clue the final total. It feels difficult to commit right now.

I didn’t celebrate my birthday (mid-October) last year because I was so sick. Then by the time I could handle going out for even a celebratory dinner so much time had passed it seemed ridiculous. So there’s part of me that wants to say screw it. Book a big trip for your birthday. I’ve been talking about going to Japan since 2019. Wrap it up with Nostrasia. Life is short. You’ll figure out the finances. I’m normally super freaking frugal. I just haven’t actually pulled the trigger on that idea yet.
Have you worked out your travel plans to Nostrasia yet? Or still in the works?
