Abuse of power by the Nixon administration

the break-in at the democratic national committee HQ to gather information and potentially manipulate the 1972 presidential election

the burglars were connected to the CIA

Nixon administration tried to obstruct the FBI investigation

obstruction of justice is a crime.

THIS IS DANGEROUS

the abuse of intelligence agencies and attempts to manipulate information for political gain were KEY aspects of the scandal

contributing to the erosion of public trust in the government.

this happened in the ’70

this is happening today. (2016 elections / TRUMP intelligence files)

You could make the argument the Nixon's resignation was the coup. It was shown that he knew nothing about the operation and it was completely set up and ran by G. Gordon Liddy.

The intelligence community wanted Nixon gone because of his stance on Vietnam and China. They hid evidence to the congressional subcommittee that would have shown he did nothing wrong personally.
