Back in 2020, while hiking in the forest in NorCal, I met an old Chinese man who told me he was a dedicated student of Chinese medicine.

One of the tips he gave me was that doing these alternating scrunch-and-release motions with your toes is a good way to stimulate blood circulation throughout your whole body, since there are a lot of nerves that run all the way through your nervous system and down into your toes.

I never dug any further into the science behind it, but it always made sense to me, can't possibly be a bad thing, and makes me feel like a silly goose, so I do it as often as I can.
