I naively self custodied my first txn & used the exchange only as a means to buy the BTC and send it to my wallet on windows 7 (a whole big thing with my bank). Going through those motions sparked something in me about bitcoin, but still it took me some time afterwards to understand that **no other kind of savings** can be self-custodied like this.
...that's the first of many lightbulb moments bitcoin has given me. Self-custody is still a foreign (sometimes intolerable) idea for many.
Humanity's best innovators take credit for zero-to-one innovations (gunpowder, printing press, etc), but it seems like NO ONE knows how to react to our first one-to-zero innovation. It's wild!
