IMO tribalism is what keeps humans from evolving to their greatest potential

That's evolution. Humans curate their support group to maintain team work. Hence some suggest human brain have limitations on keeping record of other humans individually, thus these lables help humans keep track of their group. Team work enabled sapiens push neanderthals to extinction.
