Crime has gotten so bad in Wellington that some residents are considering locking their doors! Not everyone of course but some people no longer feel comfortable with the idea of never locking their doors.

In all seriousness, it is very sad for the people who were assaulted, but the nature of how safe it is that it’s national news that some people feel the need to lock the doors of their homes.

Well.. as a norwegian i remember a childhood where my parents never ever locked the door. I never had a key as a child. We roamed around on our bikes from age 6, no phones, just bunch of kids playing in a creek or biking to the arcade hall for street fighter and candy. There are still places like that, but not where I grew up in proximity to the capitol. Possibly peak history childhood.. and they destroyed it
