Check out We by Yevgeniy Zamyatin if you haven’t. Total Laser book and those British fairies ripped him off.
The dystopic novel with the most powerful understanding of authoritarianism is not Orwell's 1984 or Huxley's Brave New World, it's Lois Lowry's: The Giver.

Cover goes hard.

He wrote from within the Soviet Union got exiled and never wrote again. Orwell and Huxley are known to have his book on their shelves. He likely invented dystopian fiction.
This cover is i had which evokes the spookiness for me (for some reason). The entire book paints a soulless satanic “Taylorized” and dehumanized world. Hope you enjoy! I’ve enjoyed your book recs so hopefully I return the favor!
