The month of January was entirely dedicated to bringing smiles to street children and those living in difficult conditions. Thanks to the 52,000 satoshis received, we were able to take concrete actions:

✅ Food distribution: We provided meals to eight children in need, giving them a little comfort and support.

✅ Bitcoin awareness: Part of the contributions was used to print Bitcoin stickers, which will be distributed and placed in public areas to promote Bitcoin adoption.

But our mission doesn't stop here!

📌 Our actions for the coming months:

➡️ Helping hospital patients: We will support people struggling to afford medical care and essential medications.

➡️ Supporting schoolchildren: We will assist children expelled from school due to unpaid tuition fees, ensuring they can continue their education.

The month of January has been marked by concrete actions to help people in need, thanks to the contributions we received. Here’s everything we accomplished:

📚 Educational support: We paid photocopy fees for students and provided school supplies to those in need.

📢 General Update on Maria Jiménez’s Fundraiser – Proof of Work #8

Hello, Bitcoin community,

I hope you are all doing well.

As the title suggests, this note aims to clarify the fundraiser we organized for Maria Jiménez and share proof of our action.

A Huge Thank You to Everyone!

First and foremost, we want to express our deep gratitude to everyone who supported this cause. So many of you contributed, and while we can’t mention everyone individually, please know that your generosity gave meaning to this initiative.

Origin of the Fundraiser

About two weeks ago, while scrolling through Twitter, I came across the story of Maria Jiménez, a young girl in need of medical assistance.

She didn’t post about her situation herself it was actually shared by a charity organization ( Real Life Hereos Foundation ) that supports good causes and aligns with our values.

This organization had been advocating for Maria’s case since last year and was doing its best to help her, but their resources were limited. After conducting thorough research and verification, I decided to launch this fundraiser through Hope With Bitcoin to provide additional support.

Challenges We Faced

From the moment we launched the fundraiser, I faced a wave of skepticism and accusations. Many people flooded my inbox, claiming I was a scammer trying to profit from Maria’s story.

I completely understand their doubts. Sadly, there are bad actors on the internet. However, that doesn’t mean that everyone trying to help is dishonest. Fortunately, there are also good-hearted people, and thanks to them, this fundraiser became a success despite the challenges.

Fundraising Results

📌 Initial goal: 490,378 Satoshis

📌 Amount raised: 116,866 Satoshis

Thanks to the generosity of the Bitcoin community, we were able to convert the collected funds and send the equivalent of $100 to the organization handling Maria’s medical care.

As announced in our previous update, all the sats have been swapped and sent directly to the organization supporting Maria.

📢 Important: All future zaps sent to the original fundraiser post will be automatically forwarded to this organization to continue helping Maria.

How It Happened

The initial goal was to provide food for two children in need after receiving a 10,000 satoshi contribution. Thanks to your generosity, we ended up collecting 22,602 satoshis, allowing us to go beyond our initial plan.

Although this amount wasn’t enough to provide food for five people as hoped, we did our best to maximize the impact of these funds.

As mentioned in our previous update, this action was meant to take place on the beach, and we carried it out as planned.

On the Ground

When we arrived, we looked for children in need. We noticed several kids posing as human statues to entertain passersby in hopes of earning a few coins.

After talking to them, we uncovered a heartbreaking reality: these children live alone on the beach. Aged 11 and 14, both had dropped out of school due to financial difficulties. One was forced to leave home because of his parents' separation, while the other lost both parents and was mistreated by his stepmother before ending up on the streets.

Realizing their situation, we wanted to offer them a moment of comfort and a little bit of hope. We approached a food vendor on the beach and bought five meals with drinks. Two of the children had older brothers, and they asked if we could give them extra meals to share with them. Without hesitation, we agreed.

Another aspect: I pushed my curiosity a little further by asking these children if they find the possibility of starting classes again is they ready to go and all accepted me to start classes again. This is just additional information. Together we can try to find a solution if there is one and already thank you once again to you for making this mission possible. We are proud to announce the successful completion of our mission to support Orphelinat Nouvel Espoir pour les Enfants Vulnérables!

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we were able to provide essential food supplies and introduce the children to Bitcoin. We also took the opportunity to educate them about its benefits and, where possible, helped them set up their first wallet.

Proof of Work #13 – Hope With Bitcoin

This action was carried out in two phases:

Phase 1: At home, we prepared food and drinks which we shared with children living in very difficult conditions. The goal: to offer them a moment of joy, a smile, and a little hope.

Phase 2: We went to Cotonou Beach, where we met two children. As planned, we bought them food and drinks. They shared with us that they live with their grandmother, who mistreats them. A painful reality that reminds us why we do what we do.
