The irony.....

We need #Ark, faster than most think we do.

The industry is moving away from its ethos of decentralization and privacy due to economical interest from corporations; which was expected; to make it worst, those same companies are the ones giving grants to developers for them to work on more features and tools on the current L2 (the lighting network), which is very much non decentralized and vastly non self custody...

#Ark fixes this...

#PhoenixWallet is doing a great job helping the current LN protocol to survive, at least until #Ark launches in few years

I only can hope that the current corporations in the ecosystem with power (meaning financial resources) will not fight (from the shadows) the #Ark development with the same thug practices that the non benevolent corps in the tech industry have fought their competitors since the late 90s but instead embrace it in favor of the ecosystem and the world.

I have been saying it since the inception of the LN, we need a competition of the L2, and now we have it, problem is, the best protocol doesn't stand a chance if thugs are protecting their wallets and don't care about progress and therefore don't do what is right.

LN has never really hit the mark for me the first time iv ever used it apart from just sending my self sats back and forth has been on here!

What does Ark offer when it eventually arrives? Does it have a better ux than LN? That's really the main thing. We need easy, private, self custodial.

In summary, it will be a L2 that works and feels like our experience in L1 without losing your privacy and at speeds as high as in the LN... Meaning, no liquidity constrains, not opening and closing channels, no balancing channels, LN is a mess, IMO it was doom, now that Phoenix came with a change adding to the LN wallets "splicing" (Splicing allows for resizing channels, eliminating the need for multiple channels per user) which means, a third generation wallet that will allow newbies and non tech people to have their wallet and just use it without any additional steps and/or worries, healthy competition is ON now, between LN with the Phoenix wallet splicing (in beta now) and what #ARK will bring to the equation. and yes, #ARK is self custodial, as it is Phoenix Wallet currently (a bit expensive, but worth it) and it will be the new version of Phoenix, much less expensive and self custodial as well.

This article does a good job explaining #ark:
