"Images return to us not only our likeness but our distortions: the ways we impose order, meaning, or humor where none inherently exists. The ordinary becomes uncanny, and the familiar slips toward the absurd.

As May Sarton wrote, “Does anything in nature despair except man?” Unlike us, reflections do not despair or interpret, they simply return what is offered. In that return, each image reveals less about what is seen than about the peculiar projections we bring to seeing".
