How do you make a LN.tips wallet and address?
Go to https://LN.tips in your browser. It redirects you to telegram. Once setup you can link it to BlueWallet, Zeus, or Alby if you like their interface. It uses your telegram username by default but also gives you an anonymous alias in the settings if you prefer that.
Guess you gotta have telegram for this one. Love the vibe of a sound alert though (like the pink floyd cash register one you mentioned the other day)
I imagine WoS and more will have this functionality soon. 🤙🏻
You need telegram to set it up. After that you can link the wallet to Zeus, Alby, or Zeus and use it from there if you want. Only get the notification sounds in telegram though.

Ok so I see the balance in telegram but I guess I didn’t set it up correctly in Zeus. I’ve never used Zeus but I wanted to try it out.
Use BlueWallet, IMO it works better there. Although Zeus is amazing for controlling a node.
So my next question is, this is custodial correct? I’m just using the Zeus or BlueWallet interface to interact with the wallet?
Yes custodial. Maintain your balance accordingly.
Can people use ln.tips to find your number and name on telegram?
I have it set to not share my phone number already.
Depends on your telegram privacy settings. I setup a separate telegram for this for privacy. But you can also use the anonymous address LN.tips gives you. In your telegram thread type /advanced and at the top of the reply it will show you your anonymous address.
I use it BlueWallet when I need to scan a QR code. Works great. Otherwise I like the telegram interface. Maybe I’m weird 😅

Any wallet can send. The receiving wallet (LN.tips in this case) has to support zaps. Also the client you’re using has to support zaps. There are 2 parts to a zap: the zap request, which your Nostr client sends, and the zap note, which your wallet returns to your client. There are several wallets and clients now fully supporting zaps:
Clients: Damus (TestFlight version only atm), Amethyst, Snort, that I know of
Wallets: LN.tips, Vida.page, stacker.news, Strike.army, that I know of
For some reason when I zap you I can see the zaps but when I zap my ln.tips wallet it doesn’t display zaps on my posts

Force close the app (swipe up halfway into the app switcher view, and then swipe the Damus preview up and off the screen), and then reopen it. I’ll zap this post of yours and you should see it then.

I can’t see it on Damus. I got the zap in the wallet though. I’ve tried all of it. Not sure what’s getting hung up with it, are you able to see the zap count on the post of mine that you zapped?

I did, I've removed my WoS wallet and rerounted my tips to the lightning tip bot on telegram - did it to get the lightning bolt at the base of my notes... although I still prefered the WoS UI better
Hmm … here’s the checklist to go through and everything should work:
✅ Damus latest test flight version (not in App Store version yet)
✅ have LN.tips wallet
✅ add npub to LN.tips wallet
✅ get someone to zap one of your posts
✅ force close and reopen Damus if you still don’t see them tallying up on the post.

Yea I stayed on the TestFlight version. If your on App Store version then I think he said it’s coming in the next update

Do you think Wallid of Satoshi will soon allow us to bypass needing to use the Telegram based lightning tip bot?
I know WoS said it’s coming soon. No specific timeline that I’ve seen. That said, LN.tips is usable without telegram once you set it up. Just need telegram to create the wallet and add/change settings. Then you can link it to Bluewallet, Alby, or Zeus for sending/receiving if you like that interface better.
Really should get blue wallet working, it’s on my Umbrel node, but I haven’t bothered

Do you see them on my linked post below? I see 1.5k next to the zaps button on it. If not, try force closing Damus and reopening. That’s what fixed it for me.
