I'm not a minister but I feel like a mini-sermon is in order.

Sometimes the world can get you down. Sometimes it feels like everything is wrong, that governments can't be fixed, and we are all doomed.

Time like these are the best times to be a stoic.

The difference between success and failure is not the eventual outcome. Whether Julian Assange is freed or not isn't the measure of your success. You are successful when you know that you did all that you could do, all that was in your power from your position about the situation. And that you didn't let cynicism get you down, make you think that it doesn't matter anyway, and to let that thought smother the small thing you could have done.

Always make the effort. Then you can be proud and satisfied of your own efforts, because not giving up, being the best you can be, no matter how little it might affect tha goal.. that is the measure of your success.

Never let them get you down. The outcome is always uncertain, and it is never the true measure of your spirit.

Do your best, then feel good about that. BEING the change you want to see in the world. It will lift your spirits.

Great words Mike and appreciate you writing these! What I needed to hear.

Low energy wave. A dark cloud upon us.

Some days are diamonds and some days are dogshit

From Bhagavad Gita:

"The wise grieve neither for the living nor for the dead. There was never a time you or I did not exist, nor shall we ever cease to exist in the future. The Spirit is neither born nor does it die; it is not destroyed when the body is destroyed. After the death of the body, the Spirit is reborn in a new body until Self-Realization is attained. Death is certain for the one who is born, and birth is certain for the one who dies. Therefore, you should not lament over the inevitable but pray for Self-Realization that you may be at peace.

Simply do your duty to the best of your ability without becoming discouraged by the thought of the outcome, which may be success or failure, loss or victory. You have control over your actions, but no control or claim over the result. Fear of failure, from being emotionally attached to the fruit of work, is the greatest impediment to success because it disturbs the equanimity of the mind. A farmer is responsible for working his land, yet has no control over the harvest. But if he does not work his land, he cannot expect a harvest!"

Since sermons... Slightly off-topic

They did crucify Jesus Christ and most of the apostles...

BTW I suck at this. But I'm trying.

To piggyback on the low energy insight, it fascinates me how wide spread this has recently become. You almost have to be monkish or similarly set apart to resist the whirlpool. I know spirit of the age is a real thing, but what is causing this?
