Your VPN is a ๐ฏ

So is your ISP ๐
This is ๐ฏ correct!
Never give KYC to ISPs! ๐ช
Easier to not give KYC to VPN providers
Easier yes. Depends on country I guess. In Canada getting internet with no KYC takes me an hour of effort.
Who do you go with? Nothing I have seen offers internet without kyc
I wont say exactly but they do ask for KYC. You just dont give it to them. The way this works is avoiding contracts. KYC enforcenemt is not there when you dont owe they money monthly. Pay as you go.
If you don't pay in cash, it's KYC.
Also, they either know your home address (since they need to provide fiber/cable access to a specific geographical point) or they know your location if you just use a 4G sim card.
My point is, if feds wanted to go after the person behind your IP, they could easily do it, even if you don't KYC directly.
Harder to do it with a VPN in a different jurisdiction, not that it's impossible.
Mullvad?
I should clairfy I cannot proove my note. It will prove itself over time. Many VPNs that were no log and open source etc have been honeypots. There are official honeypots from police etc, and services that serve as honeypots. A wealth of info able to be intercepted. No log isnt lo log. I would use VPN in certain cases, but I dont trust them as no log. As for Mullvad, I think it has a wealth of info on user and is not no log.
Complete online privacy is almost impossible due to digital footprinting, and I accept that.
But I got access to Mullvad by paying a third party provider over the lightning network for a token which I could redeem for account access. And during no part of that process did I have to provide a name, email, phone number, or address. And I switch the token out every 3 months for a new, unique one.
โHoneypotโ seems like a stretch in this situation. They also are moving to RAM only servers.
If you want to be as close to untraceable as possible, then hop to i2p. It doesn't offer much and requires you to find the sites yourself, but it's quite private.
Actually, maybe it offers more, but I didn't care to look ๐ค
Must obfuscate.
Put random crap to play on a device and mute it, put it in a drawer.
Then they'll think you're a trans gay lesbian porn enjoying non-binary entity.
Meanwhile you're just going about your day.
Think!
I VPN straight into Tor. Its harder to setup a ๐ฏ than vpn providers from my understanding.
I heard this is advised against. It beaks sonething somewhere in the connection and can reveal you.
I just VPN into the first network node but from there it routes normally. If that breaks something I would like to know because I can cut the VPN part of the chain
I was wrong actually. But there are some cautions to know and way to do tor/vpn right. Check here for some more info I found.
