For those who don't want to use Windows or MacOS anymore:

Give Fedora a look. Consider installing one version behind (still gets updates but tends to be more stable in my experience. Update to the next version right before the next new version is released for the sweet spot).

Debian is also cool, but could have more challenges depending upon your use case and hardware.

There are MANY Gnu/Linux distributions. I recommend sticking with the major ones.
