I was a scuba dive instructor for more than 10 years in egypt.
The first 3 years i always stayed in 4 or 5 star hotels in sharm el sheik . They had bins to separate plastic, paper, cans etc.
One morning i was up very early and watched the garbage guys dumping all the different bins in the same truck (mixing it up again !)
Then on another day i went on a quad trip in the desert and saw the dumping ground where children went through the garbage looking for metal the rest was buried!!!!
they do the same thing everywhere in the world.
germany is obsessed with recycling. they have a complicated system of seperating many kinds of garbage (only for obedience). only an extremely small fraction of garbage gets recycled. anything else gets mixed up and either burned or buried
