I like to dabble, it's been a hobby for years - for photographing your art I'd say lightning is the most important factor - unless you're going to sell prints of your work in a large size then the camera you're using there is more than adequate, especially if it's for sharing on line - most screens can't display the amount of information a decent digital camera produces anyway. Also, if you can on that camera shoot raw files just in case the cameras interpretation via jpeg is not what you're hoping for.
