Meh, when you’re getting paid fiat and the management is skimping on your wage, and you might get reprimanded for spending now non-billable hrs fixing something that should have already been done, you just don’t give a shit.

I'm not accepting that as an excuse.
I get what you're saying, but just going along makes you a piece of shit. I experience some of that in healthcare but I never compromise on quality of care and safety for my patients. I have quit jobs on the spot to maintain my integrity. I'd rather be homeless than look at that person in the mirror every day. But the reality isn't that extreme for most people. They just aren't willing to sacrifice even a little for integrity.
Sometimes it’s a tough pill to swallow that the majority of people aren’t willing to put forth the same effort as you.
I remind myself of those tests they made me take as a kid, some kind of like state or country wide test, where the results came back as a percentage of my peers who also took the test.
I always had the goal of being in some top percentile. 95,97,99th percentile, whatever. But then I think back now, and realize holy fuck, that means 95,97,99 percent of all of my peers got a worse score. And then I realize that most people I run into in life, 95 out of 100, are lower percentile performers. Sure, maybe 45 of them are above 50%, but the other 50, well they’re below 50%. And only 5,3,1 are at a higher percentile then I am.
Sometimes it’s just hard to recognize that the majority of humanity is below your line.
No, I get it. I just don't accept it. I will call weak people out. It may change nothing, but just going along certainly won't. That's all I mean.
Call them out, if it makes you feel better. But I guess my point is just that, unfortunately, most everyone sucks ass.
Many do. But that's why I'd rather just learn new skills and do stuff myself if I'm going to have to check people's work and fix it anyway.
But... There are many good people out there. Unfortunately, they're hard to find in the cesspool. I see this shit at work too. No industry is immune.
I don't accept that we just have to be hopeless though. I like to think that I'm a role model for younger practitioners at work for speaking up and not accepting bullshit excuses for mediocrity. I've produced some good people from training. Generally, there's something already in them that makes them receptive though. I've had shit bags where I had to recommend firing because they'll likely kill someone. I don't know how to fix it all. You probably cant. Ending fiat and ridiculous regulation would help a lot though
Help I can't find the line
Men especially have no fucking balls anymore so this weak attitude dominates now. I agree that it is the problem. I just don't agree with being someone with this attitude.
