#linux #devops and #sysadmin people, what's the successor to cron? Or alternatively, is there a sane logging interface to cron? An alternative to emails with log dumps, something where I can define logging levels, communication channels and notification rules, and perhaps with a (web) UI where I can see the logs of the last few runs? Think GitHub actions for cronjobs.

Systemd allow to create "timer" unit who activate a "service" in a scheduled way. As it use the services unit, all the log can be read with the journalctl utility.

They are a little more hard to write (2 unit file, while cron need one line in a file).
