One day humanity will look back at the sheer stupidity of the #FiatMoney era. #Corruption #Greed
In the sort of world the more pessimistic goldbugs imagine they’d want to own physical gold in (civilizational collapse, no Internet, etc) wouldn’t it just make more sense to stock up on ammo? If it’s hitting the fan, who wants shiny metal with zero utility and poor divisibility? Gold is useless. Stack sats and ammo.
Gold would make sense as a medium of exchange, but as you say the bullets would also be necessary, however great advances are being made to transfer bitcoin by other means other than internet as radio waves, gsm and especially satellite.
From my point of view it would have to make more effort in sending bitcoin through radio waves and perfect this method, I think it would be the most viable in case of catastrophe with small radio stations that function as operators.
I agree with you, plus even if the internet went down or we didn’t have the ability to make Bitcoin payments for a time and had to rely on barter, Bitcoin would still be there in cyberspace preserving my wealth for the rebuilding that would follow.
It seems silly but with this protocol you could send for example a tiny satellite with a node orbiting around mars or any planet in the solar system, having copies of the functional bitcoin chain around the solar system as a backup.
When you realize these things you see how obsolete the current financial system is.
