i think autism is an autoimmune disease caused by swelling of the brain
this is not the same thing as exceptionally high levels of brain lobe interconnection and neuroplasticity (can be measured by the number of astrocytes wandering the brain connecting new dendrites together)
there has been a meme to associate autism with genius, the movie "rainman" is an example, but actually John Nash is more typical of genius, compared to Raymond... Raymond is an IDIOT savant... genius is just savant, not stupid, but very often plagued by the problem of being so rare they can't relate to most other people
