Yeah I'm trying. My dad didn't hunt, didn't even own a gun. I didn't take up hunting until I was in my 30's and I still don't really know what I'm doing. His kids will probably be squared away though.

Are we talking hunting or shooting? There is a whole host of skills that go into "hunting", shooting something at range isn't the same thing.
Hunting. I have put 4 deer, 3 caribou and a moose in the freezer in the last ten years, but it always seems like dumb luck.
Well if they aren't spooking you are doing something right.
They aren't too spooky around here. I was hunting on Kodiak a few years ago, in the area where you can take three deer. I shot a decent 6 pointer and was in the process of skinning it with the help of my brother in law. We had our camo off and were talking and joking around and a young fork buck came trotting out of the brush right towards us to see what was going on. He waited broadside 25 yds away while I retrieved my rifle and bagged him.
The natives say that animals judge your character and give themselves to you, if they find you worthy. It seemed kind of like that.
