Assuming you do quality control it's mostly safe. Unfortunately there are "homeopathic remedies" that utilize nightshades and other not so friendly plants. If they're not prepared correctly they can harm or even kill. I can dig up a few recalls if you'd like to see the sorts of things that can go wrong.
