I think timing couldn't be more perfect for Telegram to go FOSS under Pavel's instructions.

Seems like apps should have emergency plans like this.

If Pavel gets arrrsted, Telegram goes fully FOSS and thousands of clients go live.

Telegram is already free software on the CLIENT side, it's the server-side software that's still proprietary crap.

That's a good point. I was asking more because it'd be great for Pavel to give then a big fuck you while arrested. Like the server coming on top of Nostr or something crazy like that

Because nostr by design isn't supposed to be private. I don't know how good simplex is but I would say that people should probably look to help dev that into something better if it doesn't yet meet their needs or fork it if necessary since it's open source.

I use SimpleX and Threema in addition to XMPP, for what it's worth.

Other people need to fucking use these protocols, though.
