Do I understand correctly, you want to bring algorithms into the network where people are running away from the algorithms of tech giants?
The image trending list on nostr.band doesn't necessarily show you the images people were excited about. It often shows you the people people were excited about, but we already knew that.
I don't think you can measure how interesting images are, unless you can somehow judge their appeal separately from the npub that posted them.
On an image-forward platform, like nostr:npub1fq8vrf63vsrqjrwqgtwlvauqauc0yme6se8g8dqhcpf6tfs3equqntmzut ist building.
Discussion
All programs are algorithms.
I meant statistical agorithms
You are asking me if I want more or less useful algorithms. 🤔
Perhaps I want customizable algorithms or the ability to switch between algorithms with a toggle?
Algos are not the problem. Black boxes and lack of choice (or freedom to choose and create anew) is the problem. Across the board.
Social media content algorithms are just hyper potent example of this problem. Nostr fixes this NOT by avoiding algorithms (for content discovery and moderation) but by providing an OPEN marketplace and tools for end users to CHOOSE what sort of (if any) algorithmic sorting and filtering they would like.
