If you come to Japan, there are times when monks on the road sell temple items. it's a scam. Not real monks, mostly Chinese.
It is a problem in Japan now.
Never buy from them.
A true monk does not sell on the street.

😱When I visited Japan years ago, there were no such things. Nowadays scammers go everywhere.
