Yes sovereignty. You can achieve it with Phoenix for example. Instead of with LND. My Phoenix channel has been open for over a year and was never closed. I can’t say the same of my LND channels

LND = Lightning Network Daemon. It’s a complete implementation of a lightning network node.

Yes you can open a channel with Phoenix wallet. You kinda have to in order to use it. You send a “large” amount of sats to it. A fee is deducted to open a channel and then you’re ready to use it
