Am I looking in the wrong place or does ZBD have a waitlist to use nostr??

I could already use it, but I don't like that they keep a copy of my nsec.

That’s crazy

Also, if I create a new account, I can't eventually log in with my old one... It's absurd

Wtf … that’s not nostr 🤦‍♂️

It's not Nostr, it's an integration between a closed platform and an open ecosystem.

Can’t really stop it can ya … probably only the start of such things

Do you think this poses a threat to Nostr in any way? I'm interested in your thoughts.

Yes possibly. If such centralized apps grow large and is a popular way to access nostr, a leak of one giant database containing nsecs could be a huge blow to nostr down the road.

I think a much bigger threat is posed by a giant app centralizing access to Nostr feeds then starting to censor selected people. ZBD could do that, but I don't think ZBD will become this huge app capable of making such a negative impact.

I would like to see many other "custodial" platforms integrating with Nostr too to keep everybody in check while leaving open room for the actually open and independent decentralized clients.

That’s a threat too. But at least you have client choice

Don’t understand. So what’s the benefit to use it?

Idk...

I guess a benefit is that if you lose your private key nostr:npub1earna05hx6ax38r33h3atmecjzdu547m8suw87w70aw6mlyga4hsqcja5j can restore it for you?

From other comments below I see that nostr:npub180cvv07tjdrrgpa0j7j7tmnyl2yr6yr7l8j4s3evf6u64th6gkwsyjh6w6 sees custodial clients as a way to "keep everybody in check"
